I wanted to write a post about this topic because I've been a Beachbody Coach for over 6 years now, and I've seen so many amazing people come and go, and I've always questioned why?

First of all, I guess it makes sense to share with you what I feel is an ideal Beachbody Coach in my eyes, but before I do that, I would like to share with you what I believe most people think about what a Beachbody Coach is, and does.

People who really do not understand what Beachbody Coaches do, they are adamant that we are just straight up sales people, which to be completely honest, that's only a small part of the truth, but definitely not the BIG PICTURE. We are not selling material items like soap, jewelry, gadgets, illegal chain letters, and magic pills. We are selling a lifestyle...a way of life, an experience that can make an impact around the world. Trust me, this is no small feat, and it can only happen with creating real life relationships.


You see, Beachbody Coaching is a business, but I assure you that it isn't your typical business. To be a Beachbody Coach, is to become an Entrepreneur. Not everyone who comes into Beachbody Coaching has the Entrepreneur Mindset. The ones who have the biggest goals, and isn't afraid to FAIL FORWARD, these select few become entrepreneurs and find true success.

You can be a great salesman, but if you cannot truly coach and care for people, success will never happen. And this holds true for the opposite, if you just love to help people, but aren't willing to share the true benefits of what we do as coaches, and/or believe that our award-winning products really do work, then success will always be a WISH.

PROFESSIONALS VERSUS AMATUERS

Most people get annoyed by all the Facebook sales posts from amateur Beachbody Coaches, and let's be frank here, this happens in every business and every industry. In order to create an empire, you will have to build it, and that means making a ton of mistakes, losing friends, creating doubts etc. True entrepreneurs understand this. All Beachbody Coaches and Business Entrepreneurs become amateurs before they become professionals, BUT the sad part is that the average person will never get through the journey of failing forward ENOUGH to ever graduate to becoming a professional in their field, hence the difference between the winners and the so-called losers....or should I say quitters.

Professional Beachbody Coaches have experienced multiple failures and rejection, and have learned from their mistakes. The Pros continue to stay educated, never getting too comfortable. Remember this: The day that you stop learning is the day that you stop growing.

Amateur Beachbody Coaches continue to try to reinvent the wheel, and they don't understand the importance of personal and professional development. Ask any successful entrepreneur out there, and I guarantee you that they are all reading books, and attending events to keep them sharp in their field. Amateurs are not teachable, and think that they know it all (do you know anyone like this?) When you see those annoying facebook posts, you're probably witnessing an amateur at work. Through time, amateurs will become better and better, that is if they don't quit. The ones who quit are the ones who probably got frustrated trying to create systems that don't work, when all they needed to do was plug into a proven system passed down from other professionals who have gone before them, hence why some people make it, and some people don't.

THE TRUTH IN BEACHBODY COACHING

Only the strong survive. What does this mean? The life of an entrepreneur is tough, it's definitely not for everyone. This "success mogul" movement really WEEDS OUT the fake people from the ones who really have passion for what they do.

ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS

The ones who are money hungry and are not focused on making the world a better place, or creating real relationships will ultimately FAIL. Yes, there will be some fly-by-night success, but it will NEVER last.  If you want to become a successful Beachbody Coach, it's not about the money....it's about truly helping the people who need and want it.


It's about finding that passion, and focusing on the mission of creating experiences. Successful entrepreneurs of all industries have found their calling, and I guarantee you that if money was their motivation in the beginning, it soon changed. Ask any successful entrepreneur if their success came from their motivation to make money. Most will tell you that it was about an exciting idea that made them happy, and how they wanted to share it with the world. Why do you think that the most wealthiest business owners have become Philanthropists? Because it was never about the money.

How I Manage To Stay in Shape While Filming Races Around The World

Well, I'll have you know that it's no simple task, and I can't tell you that I stay committed everyday, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve that I can share with you.

When I travel from race to race, and from country to country, it can get very exciting, but it can also be a bit stressful to my mind, body, and spirit.

EASY EXCUSES

It was so easy for me to say things like:

-  I'm traveling today, so I'll just make this a rest day
-  There isn't enough room in the place that I'm staying so I won't workout today
-  I traveled all day yesterday so I need to catch up on some work
-  I can't find a gym nearby, and I don't want to spend money for an uber/taxi/bus etc to get to one
-  I'm sore today, so I'll just lay in bed

REAL LIFE RIGHT HERE

I'm sure that I'm not the only one making excuses, but yes, its tough but the one thing that I've learned is that if I want to be happy and healthy, and want to be able to mark things off my growing bucket list, that I won't be able to do that if I am fat, sick, and unhealthy. So what do I do? I force myself to get uncomfortable. Is it easy? HECK NO!

MY SECRETS

Let me be upfront with you. There are no fitness secrets out there. It's all about hard work and dedication, and something that most people don't event think about.....finding people who think like you. Yeah, I know...it can be tough to find people to workout with you while you're traveling, but it's not impossible. The first thing to do is just ask people. Huh? Yeah, most people just assume that when people travel, all they want to do is drink, party, and sleep....but I know better because I've met so many people who think the opposite, and all I did was ask.

IT'S ABOUT THE SMALL THINGS

Here are some things that I do to keep me in shape while I travel the world filming races for my cause-related media project:


1.  I take the stairs everywhere that I go, and never the elevator, escalator, or anything that would give me an advantage. Now if I'm at the airport and I'm about to miss a flight, I will get on that fast track thing, but I'm hustling and either running or fast walking, not just standing on the right side watching people walk on the left of me.

2.  When I'm on an airplane or any mode of transportation, I tend to do a lot of calf stretches because my calves can get pretty tight while traveling. So I'll simply straighten my legs (one at a time) as much as I can (benefits of being short I guess), and just rotate my feet, point them up and down, etc. This keeps me moving and my calves loose so they won't swell.

3.  When I have long layovers, I will literally find a small area and do either a short stretch or full body strength and conditioning workout. Sometimes I will pay money to go to the lounge so I can get more privacy, but these people don't know you, and you'll probably never see them again. Plus, you may find someone to workout with you. I've done a quick T25 workout from Beachbody on Demand, and it always just makes me feel good...25 minutes and I'm done.

4.  Lot's of times I stay at hostels and camp sites. At hostels, there isn't a lot of room especially if you are in a dorm room. So I basically try to look for a nearby gym and ask for a free trial pass, or even find a nearby fancy hotel and pay for a day pass and go to town on my P90X workouts. Working out at camp sites are very easy, there is a lot of space to run and do a lot of body weight resistance workouts. I sometimes will bring resistance bands or my TRX, it all depends if I'm traveling domestic or international. I only travel with one small carry on which can also pass for a personal item. I travel light with only my camera equipment, and a few clothes. Toiletries can always be bought anywhere, so I don't even pack that stuff. I film a lot of races, and just use those free race shirts while I travel, and i'll leave them behind if I feel that it is too much to carry in my pack when going back home. I never pay for check in baggage, NEVER...that's how light I travel =).

5.  Staying at Airbnb's and hotels are definitely easier and I can never make an excuse to not workout because I have my own room. Unfortunately, because I travel 7 months out of the year, staying at Airbnb's and Hotels are like a luxury to me, it doesn't happen all the time. I will mostly do an Insanity or P90X workout, or simple run on the treadmill. I love it when the hotels have their own gyms, it makes it easier to workout, which I prefer Body Beast workouts at the gym. I do love doing my workouts outdoors, but when I've been outdoors filming races all weekend, sometimes I'd rather just stay indoors.

6.  When I travel and stay at places for a long period of time, I tend to explore and find out where the best outdoor parks are. Some of these parks have great running trails with fitness equipment along the running path. I've found other parks to have some amazing outdoor gyms for as low as $1. Being outdoors is definitely what I love the most, so I will always prefer an outdoor park over an indoor gym any day.

7.  You'll be surprised of how many free group fitness classes are out there. I will simply google free workouts and find all kinds of free group fitness classes to attend. Most of these are donation based but it's always worth it. Get a better workout and run to the class instead of using public transportation.

8. When I am out sightseeing or exploring, I try do everything myself instead of using a tour guide or tour company. For one, you save a lot more money, and you will see a lot more because you will be on your own time, and not the time set by the company. Now because you will not book through a company, you may have to look for your own transportation, you may get lost, and you might have to hike longer etc. But if you want to see things off the beaten path, and get fit at the same time, then DIY travel should be on the top of your list.  I normally choose tours or activities that keep me active such as Volcano Hikes, Walking Tours, Bike Tours, and Surf Trips etc.

9.  Lastly, if I cannot workout for some reason, or I am literally just being lazy, the least I can do is make sure that I am eating super healthy that day. I mean it's always a good idea to eat healthy all the time, but I'll admit, when I travel...I enjoy eating the local foods and an occasional beer or wine. It's ok to live your life, but remember...you only have one life and one body, so take care of it and moderate the junk foods.

10.  I lied. One last thing. I am part of of an online community of people who I coach. Now even though I coach these people with their health and fitness, it doesn't mean that I am anywhere near perfect. My online community inspires me, motivates me, and keeps me accountable while I travel. They are a constant reminder of why I decided to become healthy and fit in the first place. They remind me that coaches aren't perfect and we need help too. It's so important to find the right people to surround yourself with, and an online accountability community at your finger tips will do the trick, that is if you make it a priority. It's like having you're own personal gym and motivators (cheer squad) everywhere you go. If you need to be a part of one, ask to join my group, it's always free =)

Traveling and getting fit is only difficult if you make it difficult. If you use my tips above as a guideline, it will help your travels be a lot more enjoyable, and you won't miss out on a lot of EPICNESS because you were too out of shape to make it up the mountain.

5 Ways P90X Has Benefited Me Other Than Getting Ripped

You've always heard about how P90X has gotten people totally ripped and shredded right? This classic muscle confusion program helped me lose 30 lbs in 90 Days back in 2010, and I haven't looked back. But this post isn't about the health and fitness aspect of P90X, it's about the other fantastic ways it has benefited me.

Now right off the bat, let me tell you that I am a Full-Time Beachbody Coach, and I speak from experience, over 6 years to be exact, so I'm not here to try to sell you on anything. I'm here to simply share what this extreme little workout program by Tony Horton has done for me (in regards to non- health and fitness results) within the past 6 years.

P90X, the non-health and fitness part

1.  I Became More Comfortable At The Gym (ok, this is about health and fitness, but not in regards to direct physical results)

Before P90X, I took a few Crossfit Group Classes, but I was always intimidated by the gym. Why? Because I didn't want to be "that guy" using the gym equipment the wrong way. I didn't want to be "that guy" walking around like a dumb ass trying to figure out which machine did what.

As I became better and better at P90X, I started to learn more about exercise in general, proper form etc. I also learned about modifications, and how to implement certain gym equipment to replace body weight exercises such as push ups. I now love going to the gym and doing my P90X workouts using actual gym equipment. For those of you who think that P90X is just an in-home workout, try doing it at the gym, you'll get your ass kicked. The cool thing is that you can do it anywhere, no gym required.

I've also learned that it's not all about the exercises that are used in the P90X program, it is more about how it is structured. If followed correctly according to your fitness level, you can achieve some massive results. Its by far my GO TO functional fitness workout for everything that I do.


2.  I Learned How To Coach People To Achieve The Same Success That I Achieved

As I mentioned above, the better I became at doing P90X, the more experienced I became. It was easier for me to share my fitness tips and advice with people to help them reach their goals. My P90X success allowed me to open up a Fit Club in downtown Tampa and help over 2,000 local people get off the couch and into a healthier lifestyle, and I'm pretty proud of that =)

Being a P90X graduate of all the P90X workouts such as P90X, P90X2, and P90X3, it has given me more knowledge about how to stay safe while working out, and how to pace yourself to get the best results. P90X isn't just a fitness program, it's truly a lifestyle.

3.  I Became An Entrepreneur

Well, this just kinda happened. I never knew about the business side of P90X and the mastermind company behind it (my affiliate), but as people began asking me for P90X tips and advice, I organically started coaching them (motivating, keeping them accountable, and giving advice) online with challenge groups on facebook, and something magical started happening.....the pay checks just started to come in. No, they weren't big paychecks in the beginning, but it was a little raise that I couldn't get from my current jobs at the time, and that excited me! Extra income mean't paying my bills on time, and having extra money to spend on vacations.

I never thought that my health and fitness journey would ever pay me, let alone be my full time income. It all started with a passion to become better and healthier for my daughter, and now it's become as big as helping thousands of people all over the world.

4.  I Can Now Travel The World Freely

This part I really love because if there is one thing thing that comes after God and my family, it's world travel. Being an online P90X Coach allows me to work from anywhere around the world as long as I have an internet connection. Gone are the days where I used to work in a nightclub, or park cars at a hotel, or work graveyards at a casino. I am now completely mobile, and can work my online coaching business from a smartphone or laptop.

My goal is to visit all 196 countries, and if I do, it will be because of P90X, it's crazy right, but it's true!

5.  I Can Help People Become P90X Certified

Last but not least, P90X has not only helped me become a Beachbody Coach to assist people with their health and fitness goals, but I can also help fitness professionals become certified with P90X. I crossed the border from Nicaragua to Costa Rica the other day, and stopped by this place called Liberia. There isn't much to do here, but I've always said to myself that it isn't really the place that you visit, but the people you meet along the way.

I only had a couple days in Liberia, and the first day was spent catching up on my Beachbody Business emails and such. I had two options that I was considering for my second day: Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park, or Cliff Jumping in Rio Colorado.......I chose CLIFF JUMPING!


While I was there, I met up with some local costa rican boys and we had a blast. I was actually so glad that they were there because I didn't know where to jump, so it was nice to have some locals to show me the best and safest places to jump! There were also no tourists in sight, it was pretty amazing! You can check out my short video here below =)

Gym on San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua

When I travel, I always try to make a point to look for a nearby gym to get my workout in. While in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua, I found a gym called "Fight Club Gym" located just passed the bus pick up and drop off area away from the beach. I don't have the actual address, but you can google it, and it will be easy to find. It's walking distance from anywhere on San Juan Del Sur.

The gym offers MMA training as well as your typical gym weights. They do not have a treadmill, but of course that is what the beach is for. The day pass at the time was only $3 US.

When you arrive, you have to go through the opening towards the back and go right up the stairs, you will then see the gym area which is like in a huge warehouse. There is no A/C so get ready to really break a sweat. I find that these gyms are the best ones to go to because they offer all you need, and nothing fancy, just the basic equipment with a great atmosphere.

I was able to get one workout in while at the Fight Club Gym, so I decided to do the Body Beast Total Body Workout, always a good one!

Other ways to get your workout during your stay in San Juan Del Sur besides surfing is hiking up the hills surrounding the beach. The best hike view is from the Jesus Statue overlooking the town. You can start on a run from your accommodation, and run through the beach and then up to the landmark statue, then back down. It's a very good morning workout.
