How The Yee Peng Festival (Lantern Festival) Relates to Your Beachbody Business

Beachbody Coach Success, Beachbody Coach Travel, Digital Nomad, Beachbody Asia, Beachbody International, Beachbody Coach Life, Fitness Entrepreneur, Filipino Beachbody Coach

Let me first tell you a short story when I was traveling through Thailand a couple years ago. Starting my Southeast Asia Trip in the Philippines, I didn't have an agenda at all. Years ago, I was the type of person who would plan everything before I left, accommodations and tours, the whole nine yards. These days, it's all about going with the flow and just enjoying life how it is thrown at me.

I arrived in the Philippines on September 2014 and traveled all over my parent's home country (I'm filipino), Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia. Like I said, I didn't have a plan. All I wanted to do was relax and enjoy. I didn't even have a return ticket to go back home.

When I arrived in Thailand around the end of August 2014, I was excited to explore the mountains and witness indigenous village life with no plans to even visit the popular Thai Beaches. I spent some time in Bangkok, but I was ready to see the real Thailand, and just get away from the big metropolitan city. I headed to Chiang Mai because I heard that there was some good mountain biking and off the beaten path activities which I enjoy the most.

Check out my Southeast Asia Travel Montage Video - 2014

As soon as I arrived in Chiang Mai, I checked into my guesthouse, and the host asked me if I was going to the Lantern Festival? Feeling a bit embarrassed because I didn't really know what was going on (remember, I was just going by the flow) I said, "sure, why not, what's it all about?"

The host at the guesthouse told me that it's a tradition that happens every year where people release a lantern in the sky to let go of illnesses and misfortunes from the previous year, and the time to "make a wish" to hopefully have a much better year. The only way for your wish to come true is if you do good deeds the following year, that's the catch!

This kinda reminded me of what I, and thousands of other Beachbody Coaches do with their businesses. The annual Coach Summit for Beachbody Coaches, is like the Lantern Festival for the Thai community.

Just like the host mentioned, the wish that you make will not come true unless good deeds are performed. Just like anything in life with new years resolutions, and specifically my business with Beachbody, success with Beachbody Coaching will not happen unless we do good deeds by helping others reach their goals. It isn't just about the goals that we set out for ourselves, it's about the other 50%....other people.

I was just on a Leadership Call last night, and the host on the call reminded me of just that, Leadership is based on 50% of my goals, and the other 50% of the sum of the people and leaders that I help. For me, that's so powerful, and such a great reminder.

So I ask this question to all of you: Are you doing your good deeds this year for your goals to become a reality? When you release your Lantern at the next Coach Summit, will you have made an impact the previous year?

Whether you are a Beachbody Coach or not, I encourage you to set goals, and help people along the way. It's not about putting everyone else before you, it's about creating a give and take with the people who matter most. When push comes to shove, it is all about creating real relationships that last a lifetime. Who wants to hike up the DOI INTHANON (the highest mountain in Thailand) by themselves? It's lonely at the top, why not bring some friends with you! =)

My TOP 10 Ways to Work and Travel the World

Become a Digital Nomad, Work and Travel the World, Entrepreneur Tips, Work Remotely Around the World, Become a Beachbody Coach, Use Network Marketing to Travel the World
Exploring Central America - Travel and Work with me!

I've seen so many videos and blogs about this, and although I agree with most of them, I'd like to be more honest about the reality of it.

You see, working remotely around the world is tough, and it's not for everyone. The income is not always steady unless you've had years of experience, or you are employed by a company with a set salary.

Before you think about becoming what they call a Digital Nomad, I highly recommend that you have a game plan before you leave your home. Ok yeah I know, some people would say, "just go, you'll figure it out", and yes...I like the idea of just selling everything and exploring the world, but do you have savings? Do you have a job set when you leave your home? What I'm saying is, don't be foolish. Working remotely as a Digital Nomad is cool, but if you don't do it right, it can become a disaster, and who wants to be stuck in a foreign country without any money. Be smart!

I'm going to give you my TOP 10 List on the best opportunities to become a Digital Nomad and work/travel around the world, but I'm also going to be upfront with you and tell you whether you can make immediate income or not, and for me, thats a very important part that most people don't tell you.

My TOP 10 Ways to Work and Travel List: (not in any order)

1.  TEACHING - This is one of the safest jobs to have while traveling the world. In my opinion, the income would be much more stable working at a physical school or facility. You won't make millions, but you'll have a great experience and learn a lot about the people for which country you're in. The latter is to teach online, but keep in mind, it will take some time to gain clients to produce a significant income to travel with. (Immediate)

2.  LABORER - This can be farming, or anything that involves physical activity for wages. What I've seen is that there are many places to work on farms, wineries, etc. The income may not be great, but some of these places will offer free accommodations as well, and that can help a ton. I've met people who have worked on farms, and it's hard work, long hours, no time to spend your cash, but at the end, they have money to last them at least a year of travel. This could be some really meaningful work especially if it helps the surrounding community or village. (Immediate)

3.  HOSPITALITY - If you have hospitality experience, you will most likely have a good chance at finding a gig. Whether it is bartending, working at a hotel or hostel, this is what a lot of travelers do in between their journey to the next country. I've known people to save upwards to 6 figures before going on the next trip. (Immediate)

4.  WEB DEVELOPER - This is one of the best Digital Nomad gigs. If you are creative, you can develop websites all from your laptop. This is the technology age, everyone needs a website whether it be for a charity, business, or even another entrepreneur, there is so much opportunity. But here's the catch, you need a really good way to promote yourself (which also takes money) if you don't already have a good amount of clients. This is one of the best opportunities, but it does not allow for stable income right off the bat. (Immediate, but not steady unless you already have client base)

5.  GRAPHIC ARTIST - This is the same as the Web Developer. All you need is a creative mind and a laptop and you can be anywhere in the world. Check out this website called UPWORK, you can also promote your services there. (Immediate, but not steady unless you already have client base)

6.  YOUTUBER (Blogger) - There are many ways to do this, but honestly...making money as JUST  a "youtuber" making videos won't get you very far unless you already have a ton of followers. The average youtuber makes about $2-5 per 1000 views, so if you're not killing views, you're not going to make enough income to travel. There are ways to earn extra income while making your videos such as: product reviews, video projects for clients, patreon, and even blogging. If you're a blogger, you can sell advertising on your blog, and even create eBooks about your travel to sell to your followers. (Definitely NOT Immediate, but with consistency and a good niche, it's golden)

(I create obstacle course racing videos)

7.  NETWORK MARKETING - Multi-Level Marketing is a billion-dollar business, and with today's technology, it is in my opinion the BEST type of residual income out there. I've done a lot of remote work, but this is by far the best opportunity that creates REAL steady residuals (money coming in even when you're not working). Although it is one of the best Digital Nomad gigs, it will take 2-5 years (if you're a rockstar, you can do it in a year) of working to create a significant amount of hustle-flow to allow you to travel around the world. This is my main source of nomad income right now, which also helps me start other business and cause-related projects. I love traveling around the world and working my business from my smartphone, can't beat that with a stick! (Immediate, but not steady until after establishing customers and network)

8.  CONSULTANT - Are you an expert in something like how to manage a restaurant, or manage social media? If you are good at something, you can make some serious dollars by helping businesses, celebrities, or charities. The cool thing is that you can do this via video chat. As long as you have internet, and you are creative, you can do this anywhere! I met a guy who teaches people how to day trade, and this guy makes thousands per day, definitely one of the most successful nomads I've seen. (Immediate, but not steady unless you already have client base)

9.  VIDEOGRAPHER - I love this one, because I also do this "part-time" with my OCRTUBE media project. If you are good with a video camera, all you have to do is contact companies where you are traveling to and ask them if they need a promo video made. There are so many options for this! You can make documentaries of other travelers, specific travel location videos with tips, wedding videos ha ha, and just about anything. I recommend putting your work on youtube to also help get exposure, and maybe even a website to showcase your portfolio. (Immediate, but not steady unless you already have client base)

10.  PHOTOGRAPHER - Who wouldn't want to get paid to travel and take pictures. I mean we all do this when we go on trips, but only a few actually get paid. It helps to have a website and a big following on social media. Just like a videographer, you can contact businesses or individuals about photo projects. I would search for businesses with a website and see if they need some photo upgrades. Go on social media such as Instagram and check to see who's getting married or what events people have coming up, and simply send them a DM. It takes hustle, but what would it mean for you to see the world doing something that you love? Go out and work for it people! =) (Immediate, but not steady unless you already have client base)

So that's about it. There are a lot more remote work type gigs to travel the world, but these opportunities are what I've seen the most when meeting other successful Digital Nomads. The one thing that I didn't mention was the fact that there are a lot of people who work for actual companies, but can do this via their laptop. So yes, they can travel and work online while still being employed by a company from back home, or wherever. BUT, I think the best way to do become a "legit" Digital Nomad and travel the world is to ultimately BE YOUR OWN BOSS...... because isn't that what life is all about, living on your own terms?

Preparing to Explore South America as a Digital Nomad

Backpacking South America - Fitness Digital Nomad - Online Beachbody Coaching - Fitness Travel - Online Fitness Business
Planning out my trip to South America

Yes, you can say that I have the travel bug right now =) My last trip abroad was during the latter part of 2014 when I went to Southeast Asia for about 4 months, and like I do with all of my travels, I had the most amazing time and gained a ton of new travel friends, many of whom were just like me, Digital Nomads or DM's.

According to wikipedia, a Digital Nomad is someone who uses technology to perform their work and conduct their life in a nomadic manner. As a Full Time Online Beachbody Coach for almost 3 years now, my coaching business is completely online, which means as long as I have a decent internet connection, I can work my business (coach, motivate, and keep people accountable to their health and fitness goals) anywhere around the world, which is one of the things that appealed to me when I decided to make this Beachbody Coaching thing a REAL business, instead of something that most people do, which is treating it like a hobby.

So why can't you leave like right now? Ha ha, oh you know I would leave in a heart beat, but I have some pretty important things to do with my daughter before I take off for about a year. My daughter just started college, and is surprisingly to others, just learning how to drive, and guess who's teaching her? Yup, her Daddy, and I am so blessed to be able to have the freedom to just be at my daughters becking call, thanks to the freedom that I have with my digital nomadic online fitness business =) Thanks Beachbody!  My daughter is doing great, but as you know, college requires a lot of projects and deadlines, so I told my daughter to take your time with the driving and just focus on your education, driving is definitely not more important than her studies. I do have an itch to go abroad, but what's more important to me than travel is my family, especially the well-being of my daughter.

So that's one reason why I haven't left yet, the other is that I am actually in the middle of my P90X Marathon Training. I am actually all signed up for the Walt Disney World Marathon which is in January 2016, so I guess you can say that I will not be leaving for South America until around February 2016. But it doesn't mean that I cannot start preparing for it =).

Mountain Biking the Most Dangerous Road - Bolivia is on my South America list

What I mean by preparing to explore South America, I simply mean that I have started to do some research on some of the most important activities that I plan to do while I am there. And no, I will not have some sort of detailed agenda, but I will have certain things that I will want to do, and here are some of those exciting things:

- Running the Inca Trail Marathon to Machu Picchu
- Huh, pretty much running a trail marathon in each country that I visit =)
- Mountain Biking the most dangerous road in the world in Bolivia
- Exploring the glaciers and hiking in Patagonia
- Sandboarding in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
- Visiting as many local gyms as I can to continue my P90X workouts

Living Digitally Nomadic as a Beachbody Coach

Digital Nomadic Beachbody Coach - Beachbody Coach Travel
Getting the World Healthy and Fit While Traveling the World

Digital Nomads are individuals who leverage technology to work remotely and live independently. When I began my journey as a Beachbody Coach in 2010, I started out like most people in that business, we all started part-time while earning income through a full time J.O.B. As time progressed, I was able to pick up some momentum in my coaching business by starting a local fit club to help the community get off the couch. It was a great way to meet people while sharing our amazing Beachbody fitness and nutrition products, the very same products that I used to rid myself from the toxic lifestyle that I was living before my fitness journey. FYI, I am not just some Coach trying to sell products, I am far from that. Beachbody has changed my life, and all I do is share what it has done for me. To me, that's not selling (besides, the idea of selling just annoys me lol) when you totally believe and are passionate about something, it's simply sharing. And that's all I do.

After 2 1/2 years of working my Beachbody Business consistently, I was able to rid myself from my 3 jobs, and pursue Beachbody Coaching full time. I eventually took my coaching business all online, and left the fit club business to my coach team. This is where the digital nomadic lifestyle comes in, and something that I have always wanted to do. I always envisioned myself traveling around the world with nothing but my backpack and my macbook, and my dream has finally come true.

There are different types of Digital Nomads out there, some being that they actually still have a job, but they are able to work remotely anywhere around the world. And then you have ENTREPRENEURS. I am part of the latter group as I am my own boss, and do not work under a company, pretty much....I am not an employee for any company. I believe that this is the ultimate in living the Digital Nomadic Lifestyle because you are able to work anytime you want and anywhere without deadlines from a so-called BOSS. Oh yeah, as an entrepreneur, I still set deadlines for myself, but at least it's for me, and not someone else.

I never travel without my Shakeology
Digital Nomadic Beachbody Coach - Beachbody Coach Travel

Now there are Beachbody Coaches out there that do not consider themselves a Digital Nomad because they actually have a home base, and they are not traveling from place to place, and frankly, not all Beachbody Coaches love travel as much as I do. These types of Beachbody Coaches are just simply home-based business owners, but can easily become a Digital Nomad if they begin to have a keen interest in wanderlust, which is the impulse to wander and explore the world.

Being nomadic is freedom to me. I actually feel AT HOME, when I am not at home. Travel is something that I truly enjoy, and to be able to just pick up and go, and take your work or business with you is something that not too many people can do. My Beachbody business has allowed me to experience what I have always dreamed of, and isn't that what life is all about, doing what you've always dreamed of? Setting goals and achieving them?

As a successful Beachbody Coach and Digital Nomad, my goal is to continue to help people learn about living the healthy and active lifestyle while promoting the beauty of independent world travel. We all have our own dreams, goals and aspirations. Whatever you do, do it with passion and help people along the way, it will make all the difference. See you on the beaches of the world!

Always off to the next destination - Stay active and never stop exploring!

I AM NOT LUCKY

I Am Not Lucky - Digital Nomad - Star Diamond Beachbody Coach
I am not LUCKY!

I recently saw a travel post called "How To Get Lucky" from my friend Nina who I met while I was backpacking through the Philippines in Sept/Oct 2014 and it inspired me to share a little bit of my own on the topic from my 4 months that I spent in Southeast Asia. This is a re-post from what I shared with my Coach Team on a private facebook group page:

RE-POST: I'm Not Lucky

I just wanted to share something with you guys. Just recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Asia for almost 4 months thanks to my "mobile" Beachbody Business, yes I'm a Digital Nomad =). You know, "If you have access to the internet, you can work your business anywhere type of business". Well, during my travels I met a lot of other people who had their own digital companies, just traveling around the world, going where ever they please, doing whatever they wanted, and just enjoying their freedom, kinda like me. We talked on secluded beaches and mountain huts overlooking hill tribe villages about how we were able to do this (have the freedom to travel and work anywhere), and we talked for hours! The one thing that I always remembered us talking about was when people we met who were on weekend getaways or 10 day holidays (short vacations) would say that we were so lucky....that I was LUCKY to have the opportunity to just be able to travel anytime I wanted, for as long as I wanted. And to be honest, yes I am lucky, but what does that actually mean? Do they think that I just won the lottery and I am just sitting on a beach enjoying what I didn't work for?

Let me tell you something team. For a lot of people, they may think that I am lucky, or that my Coach Lindsay is lucky (btw, my Coach and friend Lindsay went from a single mother, miserable bartender with thousands of dollars in debt to a self-made millionaire in only 4 years), and all of these people you see who are successful, just traveling the world, and jet setting with their families. But I have to say that we are NOT LUCKY. We, and I mean I worked pretty damn hard to get the FREEDOM that I have today.

I made a decision over 4 years ago that I was sick and tired of where my life was. I hated working 3 jobs. I hated not having money to support my daughter. It killed me to watch the travel channel knowing that I couldn't afford to experience all of these amazing places, plus I was 30 pounds overweight and unhappy. I told myself that it's time to get my life together, and stop making excuses, and blaming others for my failures. Beachbody was my answer (I got in the best shape of my life with Beachbody Fitness), it was my ticket to my dreams. So I busted my ass for 2 1/2 years really hard and I was able to rid myself from a BOSS, you know....a J.O.B. (just over broke)

So as I sit on a secluded beach with some other digital nomads listening to these people calling me lucky, I say to myself.......nope, I'm not lucky, I just had the BALLS to do something with my life. I am where I am today because I have helped my community. I have changed lives, and at the same time, changed my own. I am not lucky, I worked hard for everything, and I still do. If anything, I am lucky to have a team (YOU) that cares enough about me to trust me to lead them to success.

For that, I am lucky.

----------------------------------------------------------------

And that was a message to my Beachbody Coach Team, and what I wanted to share with all of you. The point of this share was not to brag, but to honestly let people know that I am not lucky. I simply made a decision to listen to my heart, fulfill my passion, delete TOXIC PEOPLE from my life, help only the willing, and just live my life how I was meant to live it.....HAPPY.
