10 Lifestyle Companies Who Inspire Me

10 Lifestyle Companies Who Have Inspired Me

There are a lot of people who have inspired me, but there are only a few companies that have actually made a huge impact in my life. These companies have challenged me, helped me discover who I am, kept me connected with the people who matter most in my life, showed me how to live a healthy lifestyle,  introduced me to hundreds of people who have the same vision as I do, and so much more! Here are 10 companies who have INSPIRED me.

1. Beachbody - I cannot thank this company enough because they have helped me gain physical and financial success. Freedom is the ultimate gift that anyone could ask for because it's about doing what you want, when you want, anytime you want! Out of all the companies who have inspired me, this company is hands down my #1. Beachbody has given me health, happiness, time with my family, freedom to travel the world, and the ability to provide for my daughter. Thank you Beachbody!

2. Spartan Race - I have never been challenged to the limits both physically and mentally by another company. Spartan Race has showed me what I am truly made of. This company has given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing athletes who have one thing in mind, to conquer every obstacle no matter how big or small, and to always continue to set goals to achieve my greatness within.

Spartan Race Special Ops Sprint - Tampa, FL.

3. Patagonia - I am all about giving back, and when I first heard about Patagonia's dedication to the environment and social responsibility, that was more than enough reason for me to support them. Patagonia is all about adventure and keeping our planet as safe as possible, so as an adventurer myself, I felt right at home.

4. Lonely Planet - The very first time I traveled abroad (Europe) was in 2001. I was able to plan a trip all by myself without any tour guides or travel agents, and I still felt completely comfortable. Lonely Planet has taught me about seeing the world how it was meant to be seen as an Independent Traveler, and NOT as a "tourist". Travel and learning about world culture is my #1 passion and Lonely Planet is my travel bible. I currently have invested almost a thousand dollars (maybe more) in travel education, and I'm happy to say that it has all been with LP. Travel is the best education that anyone could ask for, and thanks to LP, I have the knowledge to trek anywhere, and live anywhere. The world is my home, and I can never sit still, I must explore.

I was born to travel!

5. Apple - So how has this company inspired me? It's quite simple. Apple has invented simple products that have truly been an amazing part of my success as an entrepreneur, father, and athlete. From editing software to help me grow the sport of Obstacle Course Racing, to sharing my fitness and business journey online with thousands of people from all over the world using an iPad. This company has given me the tools to help me share my story and inspire others to live happier and healthier lives.

6. Facebook- I have connected with more people using facebook then any other social network online or offline. Nothing will ever beat that personal one on one human interaction, but this company has been a game changer in the art of connecting people from anywhere around the world. I have connected with old friends and family, rekindled relationships, and have met some wonderful people who have made a major impact in my life.

7. Couchsurfing - Think of traveling the world and meeting people for the first time. Now think about those very same people treating you like family in their very own home when they don't even know you! Well, that's the type of community that Couchsurfing.org provides. Imagine traveling to the most beautiful places on the planet and not paying a dime for accommodations, there is nothing more awesome than that! I have created life-long friendships with the couchsurfing community, and I highly recommend that everyone should experience this type of travel, it's about really getting down and learning about the local scene and building relationships with the world.

8. Hostel World - Another way to see the world and meet people from all walks of life is through hostelling. When I travel I choose to stay at hostels versus fancy hotels because when I travel, it's about exploring the outdoors for me and meeting other travelers. If I wanted to stay inside in a nice place to relax, I might as well just stay home. Hostel World allows me to hop from city to city, from country to country and meet other travelers along the way. I don't know how many times I've been inspired by someone who I just met at a hostel. If you want to hear some great travel stories, and get the best travel tips, then forget about guide books, go to a hostel and chat with real people who are traveling for months and years at a time.

9. Crossfit - I do not consider myself a Crossfitter, or a Crossfit Athlete. But what I do like about this company is the culture and community. As a fitness enthusiast, I enjoy incorporating various types of workouts into my routine, and I love nothing better than mixing a little bit of Crossfit into my P90X workouts. I am a Beachbody Coach, but I do appreciate different ways to stay fit. There is nothing more inspiring than working out with people of all fitness disciplines and everyone respecting each other's training methods. It's not about the workout, it's about what works for you. I thank Crossfit for getting people off the couch and offering an environment that helps people stay motivated and challenged.

10. Family - Now I know that this is not a company, but FAMILY is the most important thing in my life. There is nothing more inspiring than being in the company of my very own family and close friends. I do everything with my family! We workout together, do business together, play hard together, travel together, cry together, motivate together, and pray together. For me, family is everything!

Family Day - The Best Thing In The World

There is nothing in the world that I love more than spending time with my family. Yesterday I spent all day with my daughter before she left for Missouri for a little summer getaway, and I had an absolute blast!

My daughter is the most important thing in my life.

We live our lives always searching for our big break, that hard-earned job promotion, making our first million, searching for the world's most amazing places, and sometimes we forget what and why we do the things that we do. Everyone in this world has a reason for why they do what they do, why they work so hard, why they train like a beast, and why they travel etc. This blog post is about why I do what I do with my life.

So yes, I like to workout because it makes me feel good and makes me healthy......but why do I want to feel good, why do I want to be healthy? Yes, I love traveling......but what is it about traveling that I love, what inspires me?  We all love doing things because we say we do, but if we dig deeper, there is another reason why we do what we do. It goes much deeper than just wanting to get six pack abs, or looking good in the mirror.

I always lived an active lifestyle. I did martial arts growing up, rode skate boards, did some mountain biking and surfing. When I did these things, I mostly did it for fun.....because heck, I was young! I had no bills, no job, no worries! I was living the life like a boss player, then one day I grew up. I started working, met some people who weren't so positive about life, and started finding out what life was really all about "so they say". I would have to say it was pretty scary, and not what I thought life would be.

When I was young, I knew that I wanted to be successful. I wanted to be rich, not necessarily monetary rich. I wanted to show my parents that I could make it without them. Then BAM, life just slapped me in the face! What I did when I was young: playing outside, being active etc. started to become a fart in the wind! I began to do less active things, and started working like a mad man. I was so busy that I didn't have time to spend with my family, and do the things that I loved doing.

Defining moments are when people finally realize things and decide to take action. Family has always been important to me. But life got in the way with multiple jobs, set backs, and even temptation. These are the things that most of us go through, and unfortunately these are the things that make us forget what's really important in our lives.

My family is the most important thing to me. I work for my family, I travel for my family, I workout for my family. Everything that I do is for me to better myself so that I can be there for them, help them in any situation, and spend time with them.....my family! When I decided to start a fitness journey back in September 2010, it was to get my life back on track. I wanted my life back so that I could be with my family. I wanted to be happy and healthy for my daughter, and be an inspiration to her.....you know, like every father and/or parent should do for their kids.

I fully dedicate my life to my family, because they are the world to me. They make me happy when I am sad, they lift me up when I am down, and they are there for me all the time. It's so funny, but sometimes I will be having a bad day, and either my brother, mother, or someone from the family could sense it, and they will just call me. It's like a connection that no one can describe, but all I can say is that it's a family thing.

When I travel, I enjoy seeing things that I've never seen before. I love learning about different world cultures, and learning how to survive in a completely different environment. I don't only do this for me, I love doing this because I love sharing my stories with my family, especially my daughter. I want to not only educate myself about this wonderful world we live in, but I want to share it with others. If I could inspire just one person to travel, that would make me happy. Travel has always been a passion of mine since my first backpacking trip in Europe in 2001. After that trip, I knew that I wanted to see the world. Travel will always be my passion, and my health and fitness is my vehicle to make that happen. And my family? Yes, they are my support system. They encourage me to live my dreams, to do my passion. With that, I am truly blessed.

Family Day is the BEST thing in the world to me because it helps me remember what's important in my life. I have goals, dreams, and aspirations. Why? Because I have a family to be with, that's why =).

Working Out With My Father - My Inspiration

Last night I attended my brother Fermin's LIVE Insanity Class at Omni Fitness in Pensacola, FL. He told me that he was going to be doing a brand new round from Insanity, and I got excited about it. I invited my father to come out with me, and without hesitation, he said "yes!"

My father is a huge inspiration to me, because he is doing things that most people don't even do in their 20's and 30's. But before we go into that, let me give you a little history about my father. He is from Cavite, Philippines and when he was a young teen, he got involved with the wrong crowd. Gangs in the Philippines were not uncommon because of the low living standards, just like any third world country. Where there is poverty, there will always be hustlers and crime. My father was a part of that scene until he decided to change his life, and take advantage of the time when the US Navy was recruiting in the Philippines. He was accepted and got his ticket to leave his poverty-stricken country to make a new life for himself.

My father fell in love with a Super-Model from the Philippines and this beautiful girl was my mother. The funny thing about this love story is that my mother didn't even like my father at the time, but my mother's parents LOVED my father, so just to make her parents happy, my mother decided to marry my father. So if it wasn't for the US Navy, and my grand parents on my mother's side, I would not even be here today writing about this.

I was born at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL on November 4th, 1970. I can remember as a very young boy how my father was. He was always a gentleman to my mother, always holding her hand, opening the car doors for her, and always treating her like a Princess. My parents ended up having 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls) and as I remember growing up, there was never a dull moment at our house! My father has always been a hard worker. Heck, with 6 kids, what are you going to do? He provided for his family and started a business while he was still in the Navy. He was actually making a lot more money with his business than what the Navy was paying him, but he played his cards right and knew that having multiple sources of income was the smartest thing to do, especially with a family.

My parents! They are still like this today =)
Mom and Dad

Growing up, I always saw my father staying active, from running to playing tennis. As soon as he arrived home from the Naval Base, he would work on his business which was a food service and catering company. If he wasn't working, he was out running or playing tennis. At an early age, my father has taught me about staying active, becoming an entrepreneur, helping people, and being the best that you could be. Fast forward to present day, my father has not changed one bit, and he is now 70 years old. He's been retired from the Navy for awhile now, and since then has opened several restaurants, and even became a Culinary Arts Instructor at a Tech School which he proudly taught for 20+ years. Even though he is retired, my father continues to run a small food cafe on the weekends, exercises every week with Beachbody Fitness Programs, and is still running.

My father has always worked hard, it's in his blood. He says "anything for family"

When I grow up, I want to be just like my father. Because he is the most dedicated man that I know. He is the best husband to my mother, and will, and has always done everything for his kids. I am blessed to have him in my life, and I can't imagine how my life would be without him. He will be forever my inspiration. I love you Dad =)

The workout last night was TOUGH, but my Dad did not quit, and he showed the group how it was done! Nothing better than working out with my father, the man who started it all, the man who's legacy will keep on going because he has made an huge impact in my life.
