4 Types of Fitness Lifestyles

4 Types of Fitness Lifestyles - Fitness Entrepreneur - Active Lifestyles - Become a Beachbody Coach
From Extreme to Weekend Warriors

I'm sure that you've heard athletes, health freaks, coaches, and gym rats say, "It's a lifestyle baby", and it really is. When I decided to make health and fitness a BIG DEAL back in 2010, I did not know that there was actually so many active communities of people and lifestyles to connect with. I was like, where have I been? It was a game changer for me coming from the night life to the fit life.

Through the years, I have met so many amazing fitness-minded people from all over the world, different backgrounds and interests, but what I've noticed is that they all have one thing in common.....and that's staying active in their own way. Of course some of them take it to more extreme measures than others, but a good majority of them all agree that staying active and eating healthy is a lifestyle that can ultimately bring them happiness, freedom, and success.

4 Types of Fitness Lifestyles - Fitness Entrepreneur - Active Lifestyles - Become a Beachbody Coach

Some of these people who are even business savvy, or are willing to learn the ropes of entrepreneurism and online marketing, have found true wealth within their passion for the active lifestyle, and are truly the backbone of the fitness industry. These are the people who willingly pay it forward by helping others learn about what health and fitness can do for them. It's no wonder why this industry continues to grow year after year. With the obesity epidemic growing in all parts of the world, "paying it forward", by helping end the obesity trend is probably the single most powerful, and meaningful thing to be a part of.

Here are 4 types of fitness lifestyles, which one are you?

1.  Extreme - Professional athletes, highly competitive personalities, and people who depend on their lifestyle to put food on the table, or don't care about monetary things, but spend their money only to maintain their extreme active lifestyle. They tend to freak people out about how serious their nutrition is, and typically workout on their own because no one can keep up with them, or maybe are even intimidated by them. These people are on a whole new planet, they have found their true mojo and don't care what people think. They are always looking for the next extreme adventure, new technology in sports science, and new training methods. They tend to have shallow personalities and bad attitudes because sometimes they think their sh%t doesn't stink, but if you look hard enough, you will find plenty of down to earth extreme athletes who are willing to share their secrets, and even have some liquid grains with you. Even though they have the fitness credentials, most extreme athletes are not business savvy which can hurt them in the long run. Those who learn to leverage their credentials with creative business ventures go on to create million dollar empires.

4 Types of Fitness Lifestyles - Fitness Entrepreneur - Active Lifestyles - Become a Beachbody Coach

2.  Competitive - These people come from all walks of life. They can keep up with the extreme athletes, but don't feel it necessary to be so anal about what they do. They love competition, but they also love sharing it with people, and although they still enjoy working out alone, they are open to working out with a group of people too. Nutrition is a big part of their lifestyle, so weekly meal prepping is what a lot of them do. These people enjoy adventure. They are definitely more open-minded then their extreme counterparts. Most of these people have jobs, but are working on creating a multiple source of income to help fuel their active lifestyle. The ones who have built wealth in this category have a huge passion for helping people, and they are big time motivators.

3.  Active - These people are still into group fitness, and some just like the idea of working out alone at home, no gym required. They understand the importance of living the active lifestyle, but haven't really made the accomplishment to do it on their own yet, but some have. They like to enjoy life, and don't take things into the extreme. They are healthy eaters, and most are pretty darn social people. They are open to sharing their journey with people and are great supporters, probably the best, because they also find that when they support others, it also motivates them. They love the group atmosphere because it helps them get more motivated. Believe it or not, these people are mostly the entrepreneurs because they are not just focused on their journey, it's more about sharing and helping others. They are great listeners, and have a huge following because of their dedication to helping others.

4.  Weekend Warriors - These people still love the couch =) But although they are not as active, they are working on it. They know what they need to do, but still haven't found their mojo. Most of them rely on group fitness to keep them motivated, so working out on their own is out of the question. They tend to workout at home with friends and family, but if no one comes over, they won't do it. They lack the mindset, and need guidance. They do occasional 5K races or mud runs to have fun, and they are still trying to learn about nutrition. They have cheat meals more than they should, but they do feel guilty because they know deep down inside that they want to be more healthy and fit, they just need the right motivation, the right people to help them, and the mind set to succeed. They can be very social people, but some are extreme introverts. They are in and out of fitness, but are focused on one day making it a lifestyle. These people would make great entrepreneurs because they are relatable. People relate to struggles and if these Weekend Warriors would just share their struggles with others, they would ultimately get the motivation that they need to succeed both physical and financial. Bottom line is that there is so much potential for the people in this category, they just need to make a decision to make it happen.

So although it is tough to really describe each and every category of fitness lifestyle, this is just a general idea of the types of people I have met along my own fitness journey. Feel free to comment below if you fall into any of these categories, or even help me address anything that you feel I have missed. Some people may even be living a hybrid lifestyle in which they can be a little extreme sometimes, at least I know that I can =).  If you are a Weekend Warrior, let's talk. I would love to help you get more active because I've been there. I can honestly say that the active lifestyle is very rewarding, and all it takes sometimes is surrounding yourself with the right people who are positive, uplifting, and 100% supportive. If you believe that you can do it, trust me, it will happen!

P90X Marathon Training - Week 5

P90X Marathon Training - P90X and Running - Gout and Running
Week 5 in the books....barely!

Well I had a set back on Week 5 =(. I was able to get some runs in, but out of nowhere, my GOUT attacked me like a ninja! I haven't had a gout attack in almost 2 years, at least a serious one, and it really hurts like heck.

I don't want to bore you with facts, but if you are not familiar with what gout is, you can just go here (wikipedia) and find out more about this terrible thing that is hindering me from running and doing my leg workouts.

Gout Sucks!
(This photo depicts the pain rising from gout)
P90X Marathon Training - P90X and Running - Gout and Running

As you can see with my Nike+ Running Marathon Training for week 5, I didn't get all of my mileage in:

Week 5
P90X Marathon Training - P90X and Running - Gout and Running

Although I was not able to get all of my runs in, I was still able to do some of my P90X workouts, and of course eat healthy. I picked up some fresh cherries and some tart cherry juice to reduce the toxicity of the uric acid in my body. It won't help me recover overnight, but it can help speed up the process and decrease the uric acid levels. But, just not fast enough....grrrr =)

We will all have set backs, and there is just nothing you can do about it, so rather than just dwelling on the negative, it's best to focus on other activities such as reading, clean eating, and watching Netflix ha ha =) It is pretty difficult for me, not being able to run, especially when I see all my friends posting their running mileage on Facebook etc. but hey, I have to be happy for them, because I will be recovered and running with them soon!

This is when my gout really started to flare up, I popped about 4 Advils to get this 9 miler done!

Day 7, Week 5
P90X Marathon Training - P90X and Running - Gout and Running
I felt a little pain on Day 7, but it wasn't that bad, so I popped a few advils and I was able to get a 16 miler in.

And that was pretty much my week. I did get some runs in, but it was pretty tough and did cause some pain for me. Week 6 will most likely be more recovery, but I'll keep you guys posted =)

Oh and although week 5 was a set back, the good news is that I was able to complete 158 running miles for the month of June, and I hopefully plan to shoot for 200 for the month of July. 50-60 miles per week leading up to my first marathon is my goal, but I would love to hit 100 in a week sometime, but it's one step at a time =)

#1 Reason Why Beachbody Coaches Fail

Why Beachbody Coaches Fail - Become a Successful Beachbody Coach - Beachbody Coach Tips
#1 Reason Why Beachbody Coaches Fail, and how to prevent it from happening to you!

You're like, "why so negative Arnel!" =) Ha ha, this is not by any means intended to be negative, I am only here to speak the honest truth and to hopefully provide some helpful tips. I have been a Beachbody Coach since late 2010, and it took me almost 3 years to fire three of my jobs and have total control (freedom) over my life, and I can honestly say that it was totally worth it. I have been through a lot of failure, countless obstacles and hundreds of rejection, but that's life right? Most people will not endure the pain long enough to become successful, which brings me to the #1 reason why Beachbody Coaches fail.

In my experience and talking to a ton of my friends who are also very successful Beachbody Coaches (earning 6-7 figure incomes), we have all agreed that one of the main reasons for failure in the Beachbody Coaching business is DISTRACTION.

So what is DISTRACTION? According to Google, distraction is a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. So distraction can come from a lot of things depending on what is going on in the life of a Beachbody Coach. Here are some examples of distractions in regards to Beachbody Coaching:

-  The workplace
-  Family
-  Hobbies
-  Negative and unsupportive family and friends
-  Media and network influence
-  Insecurity
-  Financial struggles
-  Not having enough time
-  Spouse
-  Boyfriend or Girlfriend
-  Television

These are just a few things that can distract a Beachbody Coach from becoming successful. Now if you notice, there are some very important examples listed such as family, spouse, time, and finances. As someone who continues to build a thriving Beachbody Coaching business, I have seen so many people who use the excuse of not having enough time with family (so I can't build the business), or "my spouse is not supportive", or "I just don't have enough time", and lastly, "I just don't have the finances to make it happen" (isn't that a reason to build an extra income in the first place, so that you can eventually come out of financial debt?) These are all distractions hindering Beachbody Coaches from achieving their greatest potential.

Now there are definitely some very legitimate excuses why some Beachbody Coaches are distracted, and I don't want you to think that I am being a too harsh, because that's definitely not what I'm doing here. What I do know is that Beachbody Coaching is not for everyone, and there is never a right time to become a Beachbody Coach, it's just something that people do in order to make a positive change in their life and the people around them. It's also because their goals and dreams (yup, I said it) are bigger than their excuses. I think that most successful Beachbody Coaches would agree that if you turned some of the distractions into a MOTIVATION, then it would really change the game. Here are some examples:

- I hope to one day not have a job, so I plan to work full time at my job now, and part time on my fortune.

- My family is the most important thing to me, which is why I need to sacrifice some sleep and maybe some softball games, or marathons so that I can spend more time on building my business to eventually have all the time in the world with my family.

-  I'm glad that I have a secondary income so that one day I will have time to do the things that I've always wanted and not have to rely on the 9 to 5 rut.

-  I know that my girlfriend doesn't understand what I am doing right now, but I will continue doing this for us, so that one day she will understand, because she means the world to me. My relationship is worth the struggle.

My family is my motivation, not a distraction
Why Beachbody Coaches Fail - Become a Successful Beachbody Coach - Beachbody Coach Tips

These are just a few ways to turn a DISTRACTION into a motivation that will eventually lead to becoming a successful Beachbody Coach.

If you are already a Beachbody Coach, then I applaud you for making the decision to better your life and the people around you. I encourage you to keep moving forward and continue setting big goals and sticking with them. Surround yourself with people who will support you, and be there for you no matter what.

If you are not a Beachbody Coach, and you are on the fence about it, then please know that it's ok. Becoming a Beachbody Coach is a huge deal. It can turn you into someone that you never thought possible, in a very good way. You will be amazed by the camaraderie, and most importantly, it will ultimately change your life. This business is all about being a better version of yourself, and helping others do the same, simple as that.  If you would like more information on Beachbody Coaching, feel free to connect with me here, or you can view some immediate details by clicking here. I'm looking forward to your success, and I'll see you on the beaches of the world! =)

P90X Marathon Training - Week 4

P90X Marathon Training - Nike Running App - P90X and Running - Marathon Training

Another week done, and month 1 in the books! I can honestly say that my legs are feeling stronger than ever. I haven't really had a chance to see if my race pace has gone up, since most of my runs have been tempo to easy, comfortable long runs on the weekends, but I must say that my pace on my long runs have been pretty steady, and my post run recovery has been surprisingly fast.

Here was my Week 4 running schedule. As you can see, I went about 10 miles over my recommended training schedule, and I only do this based on how I feel. I only go over my schedule if I am feeling over 100%, and if I am not feeling it, then I will just do the minimum mileage as posted on my Nike Marathon Training App. My goal is to eventually run 50-60 miles "comfortably" per week leading up to about 2 weeks before the Walt Disney World Marathon on January 16th, 2016.

Nike Running App - Marathon Training (intermediate)
P90X Marathon Training - Nike Running App - P90X and Running - Marathon Training

Here are some of my P90X workouts that I did during my week 4 training schedule. If you haven't read my previous posts about my workouts, I am incorporating P90X workouts into my running schedule to keep my upper body strength and maintain muscle mass. I will also be participating in various obstacle course racing events, so upper body strength (overall fitness) is very important. The workouts that I do include P90X, Body Beast, T25, Insanity, Asylum, and some PIYO.

Day 1, Week 4

Kale Salad with Chicken and a Cup of Fresh Fruit after my long Saturday run
Sono Cafe - Downtown Tampa
Sono Cafe - Chicken Kale Caesar Salad - Tampa Museum of Art

To wrap up Week 4, it was great. My long run on Saturday killed me because of the scorching heat! I learned to never do that again, and from this point on, I will be starting my long runs very early in the morning before the crack of dawn! The Florida heat kills my breathing and my motivation. I wanted to give up a couple times during my long run, but I kept on going, and I'm glad that I did, otherwise I would've finished my run on a treadmill at the gym, and I'm not a fan of the treadmill unless I am doing a short run, speed work, or hill repeats.

All is well, and week 5 is in full effect! =) Feel free to connect with me on Facebook here.

By now, most of you have heard about Shaun T's NEW dance workout called CIZE. It's called the "End to ExerCIZE" because it's not about doing push ups and getting all crazy extreme, CIZE is about having fun while getting in shape. Shaun T says that we were all born to dance, and I pretty much believe that because since all of us were only babies (back in the days lol), whenever there was any kind of music playing, there was always dancing, and as a toddler, it was natural to just start moving with the beat.

CIZE Creator Shaun T and I - Los Angeles, CA

But as we got older, most of us lost our rhythm, at least I know that I did =) But that has all changed now! Shaun T's CIZE workout is simple and can help anyone get their rhythm back and start getting in shape the fun and easy way.

Check out CIZE:

Now let me make this clear to you,  I am no dance enthusiast, but I have tried the workout, and I secretly had a blast ha ha, it's a little addicting! P90X Marathon Training - My First 3 Weeks!

P90X Marathon Training - Training for the Boston Marathon - Boston Qualified

Someone is trying to #BQ (get Boston Qualified) and that person is me! I am a bit nervous, but as I mentioned in a previous post, I am very determined.

I will be blogging about my weekly progress on my P90X Marathon Training and my hopeful road to the Boston Marathon. If you are wondering why I am incorporating P90X into my training, it is merely because I am also an OCR (obstacle course racing) athlete and I plan to continue participating in various ocr events during my marathon training. OCR is not just about running, it involves overall strength and endurance, so I must stay on point with my upper body strength to remain competitive, at least in my age group, so I use P90X to help maintain strength.

I have already started my P90X Marathon Training, and I am now at the end of my 3rd week of my 16 week program. I am currently using the Nike+ Marathon Training Program (Intermediate Schedule). So far everything is doing great, and I feel pretty strong. Today I did a 10 miler in Downtown Pensacola, FL and it was hot as "you know what", but I had to get it done, so I just went at a pretty slow easy pace as recommended on the nike+ training schedule. I have rest day on Sunday (last day of week 3), but I plan to do an upper body P90X3 workout at a moderate intensity level, but no running.

Nike+ Marathon Coach Training Program
(Intermediate)

Here was my running schedule for the first 3 weeks:

Week Two

Week Three

Click here to see how I incorporate P90X into my running schedule

I also have some other good news!! I just registered for my first marathon, the Walt Disney World Marathon in January 2016, so this is when I will see how I do. I would like to try to qualify for Boston during the Disney Marathon, but my research is telling me to just focus on finishing my first marathon, and then try to improve my speed and possibly qualify for Boston on my 2nd or 3rd marathon. We shall see =). Most of the research that I have done have been from very credible marathoners, so I just might have to suck it up and listen to them. If I qualify for Boston during my first marathon, then it will probably be a miracle, and last time I checked, miracles do happen =).

2016 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Registration Confirmation

So when I finish my 16 week P90X Marathon Program, I will still have about 3 more months until the Disney Marathon in January 2016, so I may go right into another program by Hal Higdon. I will most likely not be able to finish the whole program, so I may start after the 2nd month of his program as most of his coach programs are 18 weeks. I'll figure it out =) Hal Higdon is a 2:21 marathoner, and has coached hundreds of people, so I am excited to use his program after my completion from the Nike+ Marathon Program. I will still continue to use P90X with Hal Higdon's Program, but will have to discontinue all supplementary workouts 2-3 weeks prior to my first marathon as recommended.

Day 3, Week 3, P90X Marathon Training
(P90X Chest and Back)

Day 6, Week 6, P90X Marathon Training
(10 mile run + P90X - X Stretch)

Again, I am nervous, but also quite excited to be training for my first marathon, but I am even more excited to share my journey with you. If you have any tips or advice for me, please feel free to comment below, or connect with me on Facebook here. I also have a FREE Fitness Support Group if you would like to workout with me, we can keep each other accountable and motivated, so feel free to add me on Facebook!
