We visited Picnic Grove Tagaytay yesterday! I actually have never heard of this place until Arlene's friends invited us to join them, and it was totally worth it.

At Picnic Grove, the main attraction is the view of Taal Lake and Volcano. The  huts along side the mountain make it to be a very relaxing time with friends and family while enjoying one of the BEST views of Taal Lake.

HOW I TRAVEL 7+ MONTHS A YEAR

Picnic Grove also offers other things like a Zip Line Adventure, Cable Car, Mini Zoo, Shopping, Suspended Bridge, and a restaurant just to name a few. But most people come for the breathtaking view!

They banned the flying of drones here recently, so I was not able to take any aerial shots for my video =(, but we still took some amazing video footage, check it out!

Never Forget Where You Came From

As I am sitting in my typical coworking space where I do most of my work here in the Philippines, awaiting for my Gopro equipment to finish updating on the newest software, I was just thinking about how I came to this point in my life.

How did a skinny, shy and not so bright person who was a "momma's boy" end up traveling around the world while running a small internet business? I was an extreme introvert, never really made a lot of close friends, and hated being in the pubic eye. I didn't do very well in school, and was always and still terrified of public speaking.

How did I get here?

I have no idea! My mom has told me many times that` when I was a little kid, I was always talking about traveling around the world and owning my own business. I think it stemmed from reading and collecting old National Geographic magazines at an early age. I was always fascinated by different cultures and people and exploring new places, pretty odd for being such an extreme introvert. I was also exposed to entrepreneurship at an early age by my father. Although he was in the Navy, my Dad always had a gig on the side to make extra money. When he was still in the military, he started a food concession business on the weekends where he simply towed a trailer and sold oriental food at fairs, music festivals, and flea markets. His business grew and he began to travel all over the USA selling food. His food concession business was so successful that` he was able to open up several restaurants as well as a catering company. I witnessed all of his hard work and dedication at an early age, and I was also voluntarily involved in the family business which at the time I didn't enjoy. But all of those years with my father has taught me about work ethic and the drive to BE MY OWN BOSS.

I didn't go to school for business, I studied Hotel Restaurant Management, and even did a culinary apprenticeship at Walt Disney World and became a Chef at the prestigious 5 Star Restaurant Victoria & Alberts. I learned so much about world cuisine while I was there, and even had the opportunity to cook for several famous celebrities.

Through the years, I went from job to job, but mostly stayed in the hospitality industry. I dabbled with all kinds of ways to earn extra income from day trading, starting an online casino, having a nightlife marketing business, travel business, and I even did Amway!

The first time that` I traveled abroad was I believe in 2001 or 2002, I can't remember, but I traveled to 5 european countries in 30 days, I was hooked! From that`point on, I made a goal for myself that I would somehow find a way to have a business that`would allow me to travel around the world. It took many many years, a failed marriage, lost financial and time investments, many more jobs, and a lifestyle change, but I was finally able to make it happen. In 2012, I was able to retire from 3 of my jobs, and be my own boss. My dream finally came true, it only took over 16 years!!! =)

Am i successful? I think so, but success to me in terms of financial wealth has changed through the years, I guess I've learned a lot. I have learned that it really isn't how much you make, but more about how much you save. I don't consider myself financially wealthy, I guess you can say that I am rich in happiness.

My Minimalist Approach to Being a Beachbody Coach

Over 3 years ago I became a minimalist. In the beginning, I did it to save money and to be honest, I just started selling things off because I needed the money to pay my bills. But it was through that experience that found that it wasn't about how many material things that`you accumulate, it was about the experience. It brought me back to my backpacking trip that did in 2002, I learned how to stretch my money for 30 days, and how to have `fun without spending a lot of money. So today, I have gained so much more knowledge about how to travel around the world and gain experiences with a shoestring budget. When people say it takes money to travel the world, I say "yes it does". I believe that if it's important to you, you will make a point to travel. And when you do, I promise you that you will gain many fun and educational experiences. I challenge you to travel for 30 days, I challenge you to go to a place you've never been, I challenge you to travel solo, I challenge you to do it now.

It's like when people say, when you have a flat tire what do you do? Well, you get it fixed, because without your car, how can you go to work and pay your bills. When something happens in your life, we are programmed to solve it and move on, that's what`humans do. So if you leave and travel for 30 days, I promise you that you will survive. But not even that, you will learn so much about yourself, and what's so bad about that?

I've never forgotten where I came from, and that has inspired me to continue my path. I don't know what your goals are,I don't know what's going on in your life right now, but all I do know is that that's not that`important, because five years from now you will understand and be glad that you had the determination to do something great, and to do it for you! :).

Color Manila Challenge - Philippines

I had the opportunity to film the CM Challenge in Manila a few days ago, and I have to say that`I really enjoyed this event. Most of you who watch my youtube videos know that` I am focused on helping the sport of obstacle course racing grow around the world, and one of the best ways to help with this expansion, is to help people understand that this fast growing sport is literally for everyone.

Most people have heard of Spartan Race and Tough Mudder, two of the biggest brands in the world, and when people see the videos, sometimes they get intimidated by the elite athletes who look super fit, and the obstacles that`look mega huge and impossible to conquer. But I'll have you know, everyone had to start somewhere, and not all obstacles are difficult. There are obstacle course racing events specifically for beginners and people who just want to have fun, which to be honest, this group of people are the ones who are responsible for the main growth of this sport, it isn't the elite athlete.

Who is Arnel and OCRTUBE?

The CM Challenge in Manila, Philippines is one of those run events that` focus on fun and NOT`competition. Its about camaraderie and just having fun being active with your friends and family. The cool thing about the CM Challenge is that`it combines the idea of the popular color runs with the excitement of obstacle course racing. The company focuses on less running, more obstacles, and ultimate fun. Oh, and yes there are some obstacles that`you could see at some extreme races, but most of them are fun inflatable obstacles :). With the non-inflatable obstacles, there is no penalty for not completing the obstacle, you can simply decide to try it or not. The CM Challenge Run is not a timed event, it is simply a fun run event to bring out the kid in all of us, and do something that`our bodies were meant to do, run and play.

Mount Maynuba Waterfalls Hike - Philippines

This was a really fun hike!!

Mount Maynuba is only considered a 3/9 hike as far as the difficulty factor, and although it was an easy hike, Mt Maynuba had a lot to offer in terms of scenery and waterfalls....8 waterfalls to be exact! If you are one of those extreme junkies like me, I'll have you know know that there are 2 out of 8 waterfalls that`you can actually jump from, it was so much fun!

The only downfall to this hike was the time that we began hiking, it was pretty darn late (which means it was also really hot, there is hardly and shade during the first portion of the hike so be prepared with water and snacks) despite our 5am start from Cubao, just out side of Manila. One of the highlights of this hike is to see the "Sea of Clouds" and for that, it is best to hike up the evening before, camp out and see this sight very early. We were not able to see it, but we plan, at least my fiancé and I plan to come back and check it out the proper way =)

Where I Work When I Travel

This is one of those common questions that`I continue to get as I am traveling the world. To date, I have been away from the USA for over 7 months now, and although I am in the USA, I still travel all over the country, so I'm honestly only home for maybe 2-3 months out of the year, but this year will be my longest stretch yet, and I will not be home for over a year!

So the question is.....

HOW DO I GET MY WORK DONE?

Well, let me first tell you what`I actually do so that`you can better understand how I am able to travel, and how I work from different parts of the world.

I have a small Internet Marketing business where I am affiliated with a California-based company who markets health and fitness products. They are the best in my opinion which is why I decided to share what`they are doing, and how their products really changed my life. Sounds cheesy right, but it's the truth. Almost 8 years later I am still partnered with this company and loving it more and more every year. And did I mention the amazing and positive people that`I meet??? That really is the key you know because you are the average of the 5 people you surround yourself with.

Secondly, I am also an aspiring adventure sports filmmaker. I currently travel the world on my own dime (most of the time) and film obstacle course racing events to benefit charity. You can find out more about my OCRTUBE media project here, don't want to bore you or anything ;)

Living Digitally Nomadic as a Bechbody Coach

So that's it, that`is what`I do so most of my work is done online which allows me to work pretty much anywhere around the world just as long as I have an internet connection.

So speaking of internet connection, this is how I work when I travel, I constantly trek all over cities and mountains to find the best wifi connection to work. For me, if I cannot work, then I will not be able to travel to the next destination.

WHERE I WORK

It's really simple, and if you are already a seasoned traveler, then you may already know this. Most of the time I am working at local coffee shops. Some of these places have good connections, but most do not. As I am writing this, I am at Coffee Ghar in Kathmandu, Nepal and for me, I can say that`this is by far the fastest in this area. So if you're headed to Kathmandu, then I highly recommend this place!

GET PAID TO TRAVEL THE WORLD

Other places that`I work are Co Working Hubs. These are similar to coffee shops but are mostly geared to the people who work and travel, some people call us Digital Nomads. The main difference is that`most of these work spaces have an hourly, day, or monthly rate. I've been to some really good coworking spaces, and some really bad ones. The ones I consider bad are the places where the wifi is just as slow as your local coffee shop. These work spaces sometimes offer unlimited coffee, tea, and water, but most of all, its a great`way to connect with other Digital Nomads to share travel stories.

So there you have it, finding a place to work while you travel isn't really the biggest challenge, I think one of the biggest challenges is having the discipline to find the time to work and play. Traveling is amazing and it is hard to work when you are smack dab in the middle of the highest place on earth like Nepal. But just remember how you got there, and where you came from ;)

My Favorite Part Of What I Do

The man who taught me about Entrepreneurship - my father

At a very young age, I remember helping my father with his restaurant and food concession business. I would wake up everyday, and I would witness my father working all the time. It's almost as if that's all he did. He was still in the Navy at the time, and on the weekends, he would be selling food at festivals and fairs all over the USA.

I didn't know what an Entrepreneur was, all I knew was that my father believed in working for himself. He told me one day that if you want something, you have to go and get it yourself, and that by working for someone else, you would never be able to achieve your fullest potential.

As I got older, I began to understand what my father was teaching me. I started to find work on my own and ventured out of the family business, but I always felt out of place. I always felt like I should be the owner of the companies that I worked for, or at least, that's what I envisioned. My father planted a seed in me that I could one day be an Entrepreneur and build my own business just like he did.

My father came from poverty in the Philippines. He is not college educated, and never considered himself as a professional. He's a hustler. He's a family man. He's my inspiration.

To see my father come from a 3rd world country and become successful in a 1st world country is inspiring. If he could do it, why not me?

As the years went by, I took on plenty of jobs, and even started businesses that either failed, or became successful, but I somehow lost my passion.

As humans, we are always looking for happiness. Some people find happiness and success at a very young age......I didn't. I took me awhile to find something that I was truly passionate about.

6 years ago, I found my passion in health and fitness and helping others along the way. Prior to that, I was out of shape, miserable, and was a borderline alcoholic. P90X changed my life.

Never forget where you came from

Everything that my father taught me at an early age started to come back to me in full swing. With my life in shambles, it was time to rebuild.....mind you I was already in my late 30's to early 40's. It has taken me all this time to find my true calling.

You see, life is mysterious. It doesn't work like you always want it too, but in the end, with patience, and the willingness to learn, things happen when you don't give up. Was it hard? YES. Is it still hard? ABSOLUTELY!

Anything worth doing will bring on many challenges. It's really about finding something that helps you propel forward. It's about finding a reason to believe, and finding that thing or person to fight for. In this case, it's my daughter and my family. Yes, I have goals and hobbies, and things that I like to do for myself, but my family will always be number one.

I work hard everyday for my family

There are a lot of things that I love about what I do. But if you were to ask me what my favorite part of what I do is......it would be the FREEDOM. It was never about the money, never was.....it was always about living my life on my own terms.

That's my favorite part.

Juggling Your Way to Success

So I've been wanting to write a post about this for some time now. And oh, it's not about juggling like a clown, it's more about juggling as an ENTREPRENEUR. Let me further explain =)

As a Beachbody Coach and entrepreneur, I've struggled in the past with finding my own niche market. Having a niche is crucial to success in the business world. I mean, ask yourself these questions:

What sets you apart from everyone else? 
Why should people be coached or mentored by you? 
Why should people purchase products and services from you versus a store? 
What makes you so different? 

Is this even relevant to the topic?

Yes, it is, and I'll tell you why. Do you remember growing up as a child and trying different things out: like sports, food, relationships etc? Well, in a nutshell, that's called JUGGLING. We've been doing this since we were born, trying to find out what works best for us, and honing our skills with our natural talents, and experiences.

AND THEN WE GREW UP.......

Life get's in the way, bills start piling up, and life isn't fun anymore. We end up getting comfortable and forget about exploring and taking risks......why? Because we are tired of getting hurt and failing.

Have you noticed that some of the most successful people in the world have multiple sources of income. Take Mark Zuckerburg for example, do you think that he just owns Facebook? Here are just some of the other companies owned or partnered with the social networking giant:

You see, success...if that's what you want, is comprised of doing more than one thing.

As a Beachbody Coach, I had to learn to multi-task and stretch myself. Some of the things that I juggled with in order to eventually become a full-time Beachbody Coach and Entrepreneur was:

-  Being more social
-  Reading more books
-  Being more consistent
-  Balancing family, hobbies, and business
-  Learning how to effectively use technology to improve my business
-  Investing

I could go on and on, but I'm sure that you get my point. Success is about juggling. It's about doing things that you are not good at, until you become better. It's not about spreading yourself too thin to where nothing gets accomplished, it's about finding your rhythm, and staying consistent, and then continuing to move forward.

Ok yes, SUCCESS means something different to everyone, but whatever it means to you, whether we are talking about happiness, wealth, or health....the bottom line is that it takes hard work.

So if success is what you want out of life, ask yourself this question, are you a clown, or are you an entrepreneur? It's time to stop playing and start doing.

3.  ADVERTISING - The company Beachbody spends as much as $140 million dollars per year in advertising campaigns that help Coaches build credibility with their own brand. From infomercials, to radio ads,  to social media campaigns and more, the company is focused on helping their Coach Network become profitable by advertising their award winning health and fitness products to the masses. But it doesn't stop there, the customers who buy from these advertisements are also strategically given to people like you and I (the coach business owners) based on our performance. It's not about selling shortcuts, it's about helping people learn the benefits of living a health and fitness lifestyle the proper way. If you're looking for a quick fix, unfortunately.....you will never reach your goals.

2.  PYRAMID SCAM - If you did not know, "pyramid schemes and/or scams" are illegal. blah blah blah! I highly encourage you to try talking to people who are successful in this industry, and who are truly making an impact in this world with their philanthropic and political projects. Network Marketing is a billion dollar industry, and is even bigger than the NFL. Bottom line, do your research and make an informed decision.

As far as the business side is concerned, if you are teachable, consistent, and have big goals, then you will rock it. Like anything, if you work hard (and are not afraid to fail forward), any business can be rewarding, and this also goes for having a Beachbody Coaching Business.

5.  TREND - Working out and eating healthy is not a trend, it's a lifestyle. This is not about inventing or buying the latest shake weight, ab roller or one hit wonder, it's as simple as tweaking the way that you fuel your body, and committing to your daily activities so that you can make big changes in your life.

6.  GET RICH QUICK - It takes an average of 2-5 years for a legitimate business to become profitable. Beachbody Coaching is a real business that takes time to build just like any business. Would you open up a restaurant, nightclub, hotel or tech company for only a month and give up? I think not. If you treat this business like a real business, it will be one. If someone tells you that a business is easy, be very cautious, it's most likely illegal or too good to be true. Hard work does pays off, but if you work hard and smart, it will yield more success!

7.  EASY - Ask anyone who is healthy and fit if it was easy. Ask any Entrepreneur if building a million-dollar empire was easy. People who have found the best results in fitness and/or business surround themselves with people who lift them up and support them. So if your goals are important to you, it's pretty darn important to be extra picky with the people that you surround yourself with. If your inner-circle does not believe in you, it will be very difficult to get to the next level of your life.

8.  COOKIE CUTTER - With the growing online fitness library that Beachbody has every month, it is far from being cookie cutter. When people tell you that Beachbody is cookie cutter, it's probably because they are not familiar with what's going on with the company and the technology, or simply put, they just want your business. Everyone deserves the right to choose their own health and fitness preference. I would definitely think twice about anyone, or any fitness professional who is talking smack about another fitness regiment. Whether you are doing Zumba, Crossfit, P90X, or Swimming....you deserve to be praised for just being active.

9.  ABOUT SALES - If you think that life is not trying to sell you on anything, then it might be time to wake up =). These days, if you want something, it isn't possible without buying something, that is if you are living in the civilized world. If you want to talk to relatives, you talk on the phone, that takes money. If you want to eat clean, you go to an organic grocery and buy food. If you want to workout, you pay for a gym or equipment, or workout clothes, there's just not going anywhere around it. The question is, are you investing in something that will give you a return. Are you using something that will help you achieve your goals? We live in a "sales" world, from restaurants, to endurance races, to movies, to real estate etc. The world we live in is all about sales, and people selling (or sharing), but the good thing is that you choose where you invest your money in. Beachbody is not about getting sold, it's about choosing an option that works, that is.... if you allow it too.

10.  WHAT YOU THINK - Forget about what you've heard, forget about the negative things that people say, forget about what you don't know, and try opening your mind to learning about something meaningful and exciting. Too many people are listening to people who have no interest in their success...why? Because they are embarrassed about what people will think about them? Do you think Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk cared about what people thought? People who succeeded in life do it for themselves and their family, NOT for the people who have no bearing on their success or happiness. Whether you are curious about Beachbody in regards to fitness or finance, the buck stops here, take that risk, take that chance...it may be that ONE THING that will change your life.
