Today's workout was Cardio 1 and Core 1 which we did this past Monday. I remember when I used to get really bored doing the same workouts on the same week, but not realizing that there is a reason for the madness, let me explain:
1. Some people think that they will plateau by doing the same workouts during the same week, and yes that may be true, but one way to eliminate this from happening is to make it more intense like: using more weight, pushing more reps, creative but similar modifications etc.
2. "Repeat" workouts are great because the repetitive structure can help you focus more on doing the movements correctly (especially for people who are just starting a fitness journey) which is a big issue when you are not working out with a Personal Trainer. I have seen so many injuries because of improper form. If your fitness level is more on point with being intermediate/advanced to elite, then see point #1 above.
3. When people do different workouts all the time, it doesn't give them the opportunity to get better at certain basic foundational movements. This really pertains to people who are more on the intermediate and below fitness level. If you are someone who get's bored easily, then changing up your workouts are okay just as long as you are still doing workouts that will help you build your foundation versus a workout that is above your level of fitness.
So anyways, that's just my little TWO CENTS on the topic of doing REPEAT workouts during the same week, hope this helps =)
Here is a quick video of my Day 3, Week One 22 Minute Hard Corps Workout with my father. I continue to be IMPRESSED by how many burpees my father can do at age 71. Not only was he killing burpees, his endurance was off the charts! This is why he is my inspiration folks!
