We Are 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge GRADS!

Last Day of 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 minute Hard Corps Graduate, Start a Fitness Journey, Free Beachbody Coaching, Shakeology

So today my father and I completed 60 days of the 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge. That's eight straight weeks of military-inspired boot camp workouts and clean eating along with Shakeology.

This was the first challenge that I've done with my Dad, and I would have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it. We kept each other motivated even during our bad days. We kept each other accountable when we started to feel burnt out and tired. We worked out through some of my minor injuries in which I had to modify at least 3-4 workouts. I traveled a bunch during our 60 day challenge, but worked out in hotels, gyms, parks, and even in other peoples homes. We just didn't make any excuses, we just got it done. Was it tough, heck yeah! Do we feel amazing? ABSOLUTELY!

Here are some of my Dad's results:
- He lost 10lbs
- Lost almost 2 inches off his waist
- He went from only doing 10 push ups to 25 push ups
- He went from no pull ups to 3 pull ups
- He has gained better endurance, and the functionality of the movements has helped him become more productive with his restaurant
- His craving for junk food has diminished immensely
- He has created new habits for clean eating
- The completion of this challenge has boosted his self-confidence
- He feels young again!

Not bad for being 71 years young!

Last Day of 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 minute Hard Corps Graduate, Start a Fitness Journey, Free Beachbody Coaching, Shakeology

Here is what I took away from the challenge:
- I gained 5 lbs of lean muscle mass
- My core is much stronger, I managed to get some of my abs back, still need more work on the lower portion =)
- I went from 15 pull ups to 22 strict, I think I can do more now =) This is post injury.
- My legs are more defined and stronger especially during mountain climbing and running
- I am back on point with my daily workouts since coming back from Europe for almost 3 months
- Nutrition is back on point
- Endurance level is almost back to race performance
- I am ready for the next challenge!

So without further ado, here's our last 22 Minute Hard Corp Workout Accountability Video:

Day 6, Week Eight - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Cardio 3 + Core 2

Day 6 Week Eight 22 Minute Hard Corps, Obstacle Course Race Training, Beachbody OCR Fit, OCR Training, 22 Minute Hard Corps Cardio 3 Workout, Spartan Race Training

This is the FINAL COUNTDOWN of my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge!

To give you a little summary of what I think about this program, I would say that it is the perfect program for anyone who is interested in getting lean, lose weight, build endurance, and gain some core strength. This program can definitely be customized with gaining some lean mass by using a bit more weight, and a heavier sand bag such as a "Wreck Bag". As with any Beachbody Workout, it's also a great program to incorporate into your existing workout routine, as well as OCR training if you are training for an obstacle course race, or mud run.

Would I recommend this program? Absolutely, but always keep in mind that it is best to seek a program that is targeted to your goals and current fitness level. If you are not quite sure which challenge would be best for you, feel free to message me here, and I will send you a Free Fitness Assessment and provide you with options or what I like to call it..... a visible path.

Delete anyone from your network who doubt you! PERIOD.

I have ONE THING TO SAY, "I'm getting much better at Mountain Squats" =)

It's getting closer and closer to the end of my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge. My Dad and I have two more workouts, one of which is a make up workout from a previous week, but we are almost done =) It's been great hanging out with Tony Horton for 60 Days, but now it's time to workout with Autumn Calabrese, she's much prettier ha ha =)

Day 3, Week Eight - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Resistance 2

Day 3 Week Eight 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 Minute Hard Corps Resistance 2, Beachbody OCR Fit, Beachbody Workouts for Obstacle Course Racing, Obstacle Race Training with Beachbody

Ok this is going to be a very short post ha ha, but I just wanted to share some good news with you and let you know that my pull up strength was ON POINT today!

Just to give you a quick story, I actually injured my elbow mountain biking a few years ago, and it would hurt so bad while doing any type of pull up movement. Before the injury, I was able to crank out about 28 strict pull ups, and my goal was to get at least 30, and then guess what happens =)

Anyways, since starting this challenge, I feel that my pull up strength is getting much better. I still want to stay safe because I would hate to re-injure my elbow, so I am just doing what I can. After I complete my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, I will post a video on how many pull ups I can actually do, so I'm pretty excited about that. If I could hit 20, that would make me happy!

Anyways, lots of things to do (like EAT lol), so just wanted to share my workout accountability video, see you all tomorrow =)

Day 2, Week Eight - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Cardio 3 + Core 2

Day 2 Week Eight 22 Minute Hard Corps, 22 Minute Hard Corps Cardio 3 and Core 2 Workout, Facebook LIVE Workout, Free Beachbody Coaching

I was feeling a bit under the weather today, but I did what I could. It's actually pretty tough for me to slack on my workouts, but here's the kicker...... I procrastinate a lot, so it may take me awhile to workout, but once I'm in, I am ready to kill it =)

I definitely find it to be more productive to workout earlier in the day because it leaves me a lot more time to go about my day and stick to my schedule when it comes to business tasks. My issue is that I will get so involved with my online coaching business, that I will actually pile on more tasks to delay my workout =) Anyone else do that?

BUT THAT'S ON MY LAZY DAYS!

On my good days, I somehow just wake up and automatically start my day, sometimes putting my shoes on before I eat breakfast secretly preparing for a morning run, and then later doing my workout shortly after.

I'm human. I'm not trying to impress anyone =). Staying fit and healthy is still a challenge for me on certain days, but what I've found to be very helpful is finding an accountability partner who will keep me in check. I'm so blessed that my father decided to do this 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge with me, because everyday he asks me, "what's our workout for today?", and something simple as that really keeps me on my toes. Do you have someone to keep you accountable?

So I'm finally on WEEK 8 of my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge with my Dad, and it's hard to believe that we're almost done! We actually missed one workout last week, so we will be adding the last workout this Sunday, and that will be our last workout, and when we will officially have completed this 60 Day Challenge =)

I filmed an obstacle course race this past Saturday, and I was planning to do my missed workout on Sunday, but I was so BEAT TIRED that I didn't get it done, so I'll add it to the end of the week =). I'll share the obstacle racing video below from the Mud Titan 6 event which was held about 30 minutes outside of Tampa. It was a great local race organized by some very amazing people.

Getting my little workout in before I film the Mud Titan 6 race the next day! (I did this workout on 8-26-16) I ended up being really lazy and not wanting to go down to the hotel gym, so I did my workout in my room. It was pretty tight, but still doable =)

Today's workout was Resistance 3, which is the only resistance workout that requires no pull-ups. I think the most challenging move on this workout is the MOUNTAIN SQUATS, they get me every single time, and there are a ton of reps! It's definitely a great full body move which targets your core, legs, arms and shoulders. It's the ones you hate that will make you stronger!

Here's my 22 Minute Hard Corps accountability workout video!

Day 5, Week Seven - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Resistance 3

After my workout, I attended an exclusive Diamond Beachbody Coach Team Dinner in Trinity, FL. It was an amazing event, and I ate pretty good. I did cheat a little and I know it isn't an excuse, but I'll have you know that I burnt the crap out of those calories at the Mud Titan 6 Race the next morning, I'll post the race video that I created in the next post =)

Here are some photos from the Diamond Coach Dinner event which was hosted at my friend and Million Dollar Coach Earner Seay's house.

Day 3 and 4 Week Seven 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, Spartan Up, 22 Minute Hard Corps Resistance 1 Workout, Cardio 3 and Core 2, Join My Beachbody Coach Team, Become a Beachbody Coach
Day 3 + 4, Week 7 Videos Below =)

The 22 Minute Hard Corps Workouts are challenging enough, let alone posting a video and blog of each workout, but I'm pretty happy that I'm almost done =) Just a little over one week left, and my Dad and I will have completed 60 days of this challenge.

What's next? Well, I think we are leaning more towards the 21 Day Fix Extreme Challenge. I've been missing some good ole classic weight-lifting, and although 21DFX is not classic lifting, it will involve a WEE_BIT more weights than 22 Minute Hard Corps, so that's good enough for me =) I will probably do a P90X3/Body Beast Hybrid Workout after 21 Day Fix Extreme, but we shall see!

I believe in bringing back the strong man mentality from the past,
technology has made us weak, it's time to #SpartanUp and
live the active lifestyle that was once the norm.

Just a little summary on how I've been feeling on week 7. My core is definitely getting much stronger, and what I mean by that is I am able to complete more reps than usual without getting burned out or tired. Yesterday was a good example when I was doing Cardio 3 + Core 2. My accountability partner Steven complimented me and told me that he noticed my improvement in my core exercises, so that confirmed everything for me, other than what I've been feeling.

This past few days, I've been in Tampa visiting my daughter so I haven't been able to workout with my Dad, but he's been sending me his workout accountability pics, so yes, he's still killing it!

On this post, I will be sharing bot of my Day 3 and Day 4 accountability videos, so here they are =)

And of course, here are my Dad's workout accountability photos from Day 3 and 4, Week 7. I am so very proud of him for staying consistent even though I am not able to workout with him. Not only is he committed to his workouts, he's been staying on point with his nutrition and drinking his Shakeology everyday =)

YES!!! Week 7 has arrived =)

So I was thinking that I only had 2 more weeks to go, but then one of my other Coaches reminded me that there is another week after the 8th week called HELL WEEK! That doesn't sound fun does it =) Now the last week is totally optional, but I'm thinking about doing it, I mean, what the heck right, what's one more added week going to do? I know, get me looking HOT lol, JK =)

Week 7 has started off great other than the fact that I had to take it easy on Day 1, Week 7 because of my gout flare up.

Today's workout that I did which was Cardio 1 and Core 2 wasn't too bad, I didn't have to modify at all, versus yesterday when I modified about 60% of the time.

At any rate, so glad that my foot is feeling much better, looks like I'll be able to finish strong this week. That's also good because I'm actually filming a local obstacle course race called Mud Titan 6 in Plant City FL this weekend, so let's hope my gout is 100% gone by then! =)

So here's my workout accountability videos from Day 1-2 of week 7.

Day 7, Week Six - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Cardio 2 + Core 2

Day 7 Week Six 22 Minute Hard Corps, 22 Minute Hard Corps Cardio 2 and Core 1, Spartan Race Training, Nashville Spartan Race Sprint 2016, OCRTUBE Media Project, Free Beachbody Coaching, Become a Beachbody Coach
Watch Video Below

My Dad and I are finally finished with WEEK 6!

For this workout, we decided to do it on Sunday since I was filming a Spartan Race around the Nashville area. So even though it was a rest day, I didn't technically take a rest day since I clocked in at running almost 9 miles chasing athletes with my Gopros =)

Today's workout was Cardio 2 and Core 2. This was considered my POST SPARTAN RACE WORKOUT. I try to stay active the day after filming races so that my body stays familiar with movement instead of staying stagnant. It keeps me sharper and stronger.

Check out my Nashville Spartan Sprint 2016 video
Day 7 Week Six 22 Minute Hard Corps, 22 Minute Hard Corps Cardio 2 and Core 1, Spartan Race Training, Nashville Spartan Race Sprint 2016, OCRTUBE Media Project, Free Beachbody Coaching, Become a Beachbody Coach

I do not try to workout hard or anything, instead I mostly modify and sometimes just do stretch and mobility. After doing the 9 miles, my gout started flaring up again on top of a little soreness, so I decided to really take it easy, and just modify about 50-60% of the time. Here are the modifications that I did:

For the most part, I took away anything that was considered high-impact, and just did the alternative.

- Since my right foot is where my gout is flaring, I did single leg burpees on my left leg.

- I didn't squat as low on some reps since my quads were still burning from yesterday.

- For the switch kicks, I just did leg lifts to ensure that I didn't put anymore pressure on my right foot.

- I didn't really modify the mountain climbers, I just didn't do all the reps. With mountain climbers, there isn't too much pressure on your feet since you are in a plank push up position.

- I didn't go as high on the "high-knees" I went a bit slower and took pressure off my right foot.

These were just some of the modifications that I did to keep it safe. I still managed to get in a great workout as always. We did the Core 2 Workout right after, which is not shown in the video.

Here's our workout accountability video!

Day 1, Week Six - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Resistance 1

Day 1 Week Six 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 Minute Hard Corps Resistance 1 Workout, Beachbody Challenge, Choosing a Beachbody Coach, Become a Beachbody Coach
Watch Video Below

WAHOO!!! Week 6 is finally here =)

Today's workout was Resistance 1 and my niece even decided to join us, and she did amazing! I think the toughest part of the workout was the pull ups and of course the BURNOUT round at the end with the Sprint, Burpee, Push Ups.

Here's the thing, this 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge is a 60 day program, and it is pretty impossible to maintain 100% of your energy and strength for that amount of time. So today was one of those days where I had to tone it down a bit and listen to my body. Don't get me wrong, I still pushed myself to the limits, but I also know that if I do not pace myself, I could either get injured, become overtrained, or even discouraged, and I do not want that to happen. NO WAY!

What will it be? You got this!!
Day 1 Week Six 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 Minute Hard Corps Resistance 1 Workout, Beachbody Challenge, Choosing a Beachbody Coach, Become a Beachbody Coach

So if you are doing a challenge, or any type of workout, it doesn't have to be a set program or anything like that, I would recommend that you always make a point to listen to your body and put your ego aside, and keep it safe. In my experience, you will get better results, and will also have a more enjoyable time working out =)

Today's CARDIO 1 workout was a make-up workout from last week. Last Saturday I was in Asheville filming a Spartan Race and one thing lead to another, and I wasn't able to get my workout done, so my Dad and I decided to add this missed workout to the end of this week, which is WEEK 5.

I'm going to keep this post pretty short and just say one thing.....I am getting much better at the CORE Workouts!!! So excited =)

If you are just visiting my blog for the first time, let me catch you up to speed and let you know that CORE and flexibility is my weakness, but since starting 22 Minute Hard Corps and doing the core workouts 3 times per week, I feel my mid-section as well as my back core getting stronger. My Dad and I are almost finished with this week, and we will have 3 more weeks until completion =)

Day 5, Week Five - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Special Ops Resistance

Day 5 Week Five 22 Minute Hard Corps, 22 Minute Hard Corps Special Ops Resistance, Beachbody PT Sandbag, Beachbody Sandbag Workout, Wreck Bag workout, 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge
Watch Video Below

Week 5 of my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge is almost done, and all I have to say is that, Tony Horton is not slowing it down for us! My father and I did Special Ops Resistance today and the toughest part for me was the "track star pull ups". Just the basic pull up from a dead hang is tough enough, and then you add a knee-up crossover, and the difficulty factor percentage just raised at least another 50%. I have yet to be able to complete the track star pull-up reps without stopping.

It may take a few more rounds of this before I can even think about doing them with added weight from a weight vest. But that's what I love about these Beachbody Workouts, the intensity level is up to you. There are modifications for people who need them, and there are alternatives for people who require a little more intensity to achieve peak performance, I would say that I am somewhere in between =).

Another thing that I would like to point out about the 22 Minute Hard Corps workouts is that there are a lot of reps. If you would like to gain more strength with the workouts, you could even do less reps with more weight. Here's and example: Instead of using the Beachbody PT Sandbag which is only 20lbs (which is plenty especially with the amount of reps required), you could do half of the required reps, and use a heavier sandbag like a WRECK BAG. It's really all about being creative with your workouts and knowing that the sky's the limit with the workouts. If you would like my advice on creating a more intense workout using Beachbody Fitness, please feel free to message me, I'd love to help out! =)

So without further ado, here's my daily accountability video!

Day 4, Week Five - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Cardio 3 + Core 2

I don't know about you, but doing LATE NIGHT WORKOUTS are really tough for me, at least it is for me these days!

Today's workout was Cardio 3 + Core 2 and my Dad and I are moving right along with our 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge. I can't believe that we are about to close out WEEK 5! =)

So let me tell you how I've been feeling lately:

- My legs are so much stronger. I feel that they are as strong as when I used to run obstacle racing events competitively. I noticed this when I was climbing the mountain in Asheville during the Spartan Super Race that I was filming last weekend.

- The definition that I lost when I was in Europe for two months is coming back. I can see it in my legs, and upper body. I am gaining my lean muscle again =)

- I am still struggling with the core exercises, but that has always been my weakness. I do see my abs carving out, and I'm excited to see more of them by the end of the challenge.

- My nutrition has been good, and it's getting better as the weeks pass by. I've been really taking it easy on my carb and sugar intake. I'll be getting more strict about it in the coming weeks.

- I only use water in my Shakeology, and just recently cut my love for peanut butter, at least for now =) My typical shakeology recipe has been Chocolate Shakeology, Water, and a whole banana. Sometimes I will replace the banana with half of an avocado.

So that's my updates! I'm feeling good and my Dad is doing great. I feel that my Dad's greatest struggle is getting his form right with the movements as well as the modified exercises. I have to stop the workout sometimes to make sure that he is doing the exercises correctly to ensure that he doesn't injure himself, and that he is getting the most out of it with, even with modifications. My Dad does modifications probably about 30% of the time. He's 71, and is really tough. He can handle a lot, but I have to make sure that he tones it down sometimes, and remind him that he needs to listen to his body, and not his ego, I know that we all go through this. My Dad just does not quit, he's always been a hard worker all of his life, so he treats his workouts the same way. I mean, he works out harder than a lot of the 20-30 something's that I see, it's pretty inspiring!

Anyways, here's our accountability video =)

Day 3, Week Five - 22 Minute Hard Corps | Resistance 3

Day 3 Week Five 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 minute Hard Corps Resistance 3 Workout, Beachbody on Demand Free Trial, Beachbody Coach Lifestyle, Do Hard Things, 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge Group

Ok, let me just tell you that it's been a HELLUVA challenge to post a video everyday during my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge! I know that you're saying, "then why do you do it then?" so let me tell you why =)

There are a number of reasons, but I'll give you my TOP 3 reasons why I committed to posting a workout video everyday during my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge.

1.  To keep myself accountable to my workouts, and commitments as a Beachbody Coach, especially as a leader to my coach team.

2.  To provide ongoing content to my blog so that I can share my journey with others who may be inspired to start a journey themselves.

3.  I want success not just for me, but for my team. In order to be successful at anything, it takes consistency and doing HARD THINGS. Posting a video and a blog post everyday on top of my daily activities is pretty tough, especially when I am traveling all the time. It's about doing things even though others don't understand what you do. It's about doing things when no one is around watching you. I do this for me, my family, and others who have struggled with their health, fitness, and finances their whole life. I want to be someone who can give others HOPE, because that's what this lifestyle has done for me.

Ever wonder why some people NEVER win their own race? It's because they are too
concerned with other people's success. Focus on winning in your life, and guess what?
YOU WILL WIN!

So now you know =) As I am currently writing this post, I just got off of a 2+ hour long online coach call that ended way past 10pm, and it was jam-packed with a lot of information from some of the most successful coaches on our team. I was beat tired after 2 hours, but I knew that sacrificing a little bit more time would yield me more success for my family's future. And then....my commitment to posting a video and blog daily, that's what I'm doing now (almost midnight now) =)

So here you go, here is my daily accountability video =) Hope you had a fantastic day!

THOSE BURPEE ROLLS with a sandbag, wows!!

It's Day 2, Week Five of my 22 Minute Hard Corps Challenge, and both of the workouts today were totally new to my Dad and I. The WOD was Special Ops Cardio and Core 2. We were a little confused in the beginning, so we had to stop a few times to make sure that our form was correct, but we eventually got it done!

One little piece of advice: whether you are working out with a personal trainer, or doing workouts on your own, I encourage you to make sure that you are doing the movements correctly. Proper movements are so important because it can improve your results much quicker, and it can prevent a lot of injuries. Also, in the beginning, don't worry so much about speed. Get the movements down first, and then once you feel comfortable, you can go for speed. Just remember, quality over quantity =)

Here is today's accountability video!

WEEK 5 is finally here!!

Today's workout was Resistance 2, and it seems like my Dad and I have improved a lot since the first time that we did this workout. Definitely feel stronger, and although I didn't go as hard as I normally do, because I am still recovering from filming a 10+ mile brutal Spartan Race, I still felt pretty dang good.

David Magida and I - Asheville Spartan Super 2016
Day 1 Week Five 22 minute Hard Corps Challenge, 22 minute Hard Corps Resistance 2 Workout, Asheville Spartan Super 2016, Asheville Spartan Race, Spartan Race Training

One thing that I wanted to mention is that when I was filming the Spartan Race in Asheville, NC this past weekend, my legs felt so strong climbing up the mountains, I was surprised how long I could go without stopping. Now going up is a lot differnet than going down the mountains, and my knees aren't the strongest because of a prior knee injury a couple years back, I also forgot my knee compression that I normally wear during the mountain races, so my knees began to pop again, so I had to go slow to ensure that I do not re-injure myself, which I did anyways...slightly =). It comes with the territory and something that I just have to be careful with as I film in some of the most remote and treacherous places on planet earth. I should be better prepared knowing that it's always a surprise at an obstacle race, you never know what the course will be like until you're out there.

a little Spartan Race reminder, don't complain about how TOUGH a race is,
just embrace the suck, and be prepared for anything.

I took it pretty slow for this workout, but like I mentioned before, I still felt strong and only modified about 20% of the time. At any rate, it's just another day in paradise =)
